I can't believe we are finally getting ready for this day. It will be 159 days in the NICU and 170 days since I was admitted on Christmas eve. I keep waiting for Jack to pull some trick and we won't be able to leave but so far we are doing ok. He's pretty cranky from getting his shots yesterday but I don't blame him. :)
It is going to be really bittersweet to leave, everyone here has been SO amazing, so many people have become like family to us and its going to be hard to say goodbye even as excited as I am about going home I'm really going to miss everyone a lot.

I will be leaving for Lourdes, France on Sunday and will light a candle for Jack. I hope he goes home on the 10th and stays home. Please know you will all be in my prayers.
Congrats! How wonderful that you get to bring him home HOME. He will soon learn to love the smells and comfort of being home with just mom and dad. We are so happy for you. Maybe sometime in the future we can get together for a little visit :) We too will pray that everything goes as planned.
Blessings!

Congratulations on being able to go home! I remember you said in a previous post that you were scared to go home to not have constant monitors on Jack. I remember feeling that way too when we first brought my daughter home who was in the hospital for 2 months. I was so nervous putting her in the carseat because I knew we were actually leaving and I didn’t like the thought of not knowing what her respirations, heart rate, ect. were at. I promise you that you will feel comfortable within a couple of days. You have been around him for 5 months in the hospital now and you will be able to know when something is wrong. Just use your mothers instinct. We had to learn how to do the oxygen/feeding tube too. Again, once you get a few days under your belt it will become second nature to you and you may find yourself not needing to use his monitors because you will know what to look for on his outwards appearance. I know what you are going to be going through so you are more than welcome to link to my blog and leave me a comment if you would like suggestions on anything that we may have tried with the feeding issue with our daughter. I think its great that you will be looking into therapy for him. I do also suggest looking into the Up-To-3 program in your area as it may be free for you depending on your income or you will have a very little cost. They can help with feeding and motor skills.
